Course
Description:
Advanced Radio Broadcasting is an elective
course. Students
interested in mastering the skills necessary for radio production
and broadcasting should consider this course.
Throughout multiple levels and semesters, students will
develop increasingly advanced skills in editing techniques, show
creation, interviewing, script writing, content evaluation,
promotions and additional skills necessary for maintaining a radio
station. The class
involves weekly radio shows and production assignments. Radio Broadcasting classes are taught under the supervision
of Peggy
Holecek.
Instructional
Goals:
An increasing
understanding and mastery of the principles of radio production
are two of the main goals. Equally
important are skills in critical thinking, teamwork, decision
making, ethics, inductive and deductive reasoning, error analysis,
application of knowledge and acceptance of responsibility.
Expectations:
Students are expected to demonstrate
initiative and responsibility.
Students are expected to be on time to class, treat each
other with respect, and participate actively in group projects.
All assignments and shows are to be handed in on time
following explained procedures.
Students are expected to demonstrate improvement in all
aspects of broadcasting throughout the semester.
Grading
Procedures:
Grades are based
on individual projects, class participation and radio shows.
Projects and radio broadcasts demonstrate students
understanding of material and competency in production techniques.
